crazy story. there are reports that john boehner told harry reid to go "f" himself outside the oval office last week. that's true. then on top of that, republicans told reid that if he does "f" himself, they won't pay for his contraception. and talking to boehner, cantor, mccarthy, they want the move forward on this and enough rank and file to realize they need to get in better with latino groups and would you have a same problem of house republicans curtailing a deal? probably not because if marco rubio is someone when's very well liked by a bunch of conservative house republicans, if they get something through the senate with rubio's name attached to it, it's difficult not to move forward and you have seen things over the last year, give you an example, the fiscal cliff deal, the way that passed out of the u.s. senate with overwhelming bipartisan support, went to the house and house republicans angry about it and wanted to stop it. guess what. they folded at the end. but i'm going back to something i mentioned yesterday. i think the whole game for this is two things. one, the president's speech right there sort of saying, look, i'll let congress work the will which is significant because members in both chambers want that to happen. and then this idea of enforcement. they did an amazing thing on rush limbaugh. he made

doesn't want to do it. it's not his cup of tea. but his view-- particularly on john boehner-- is that boehner cannot deliver a deal. he can do all the schmoozing he wants but when john boehner, the house speaker, goes back to his caucus they are driven and ruled by imperatives that are impervious to schmoozing and this that's basically their nstituents at home and therefore if boehner can't help him make a deal he has to find some other kind of leverage and that comes from the outside which is why in the inaugural address today the president talked about voters and said we have to do it not through our votes but our voices that's why he's organizing america for action, to try and build pressure from the outside that will somehow work on lawmakers. he's tried that before but they're recommitted it-to-it now that's given up on dealing with congress directly. >> if you took the 2001 most influeial peop in washington 2000 of them if you them in a room and ask them to chat about the topics, the president's lack of willingness to reach out to congress very much, his lack of feel for the imp

inauguration inauguration 2013. obama spoke. sasha yawned. beyonce sang, boehner went wept, and we were able to see what an inauguration party looked like. last saturday was gun appreciation day lead to go five accidental shootings nationwide. next saturday it's running with scissors appreciate day. today is the birthday of attorney general eric holder, j master j and 36 years ago my friends president jimmy carter pardoned the vietnam war draft evaders. and george w bush, dick cheney and mitt romney didn't show up. . it's actually gotten a little bit harder under speaker boehner who has said -- and i quote -- "i don't feel comfortable scheduling any controversial legislation unless i know we have the votes on our side first." which sounds like he's saying he has to be able to produce a majority of the house out of just the republican caucus before bringing a bill. but whether it's the original hastert rule requiring a majority of the majority before they'll even bring a bill to the floor or what appears to be the boehner rule that they have to have the votes on our side first -- end quote -- it is a rule of obstruction. there are somewhere between 50 and 60 members of the house republican tea party caucus and a whole bunch more house republicans who are scared of the tea party and scared of what might happen to them if they get a tea party primary challenger. so getting a majority of his party together for anything reasonable is a challenge for speaker boehner. house republicans could not get a majority of their conference to support a highway bill. so the hastert rule kicked in, and there wa
